Project Veerkracht

A pin-design honoring the resilience of military and civilian people.

 Scientifically:

As a soldier, his or her resilience is actively called upon. For example, soldiers are sent on missions, where they encounter situations in which they are prepared to be resilient. Additionally, in particular, soldiers who have been injured, physically or mentally, both during and after missions, must call on their resilience. The Invictus Games are an inspiring example in which this resilience is evident.

Despite the fact that military personnel are specially trained to be resilient, it is a skill that everyone possesses. Civilians are also asked to be resilient, in times of illness and uncertainty. A strong example is the uncertain situation regarding Covid-19, in which many must adjust to the "new normal." Everyone, military and civilian, must now demonstrate resilience to adapt to the situation.

The importance of Resilience is increasingly being felt. It is therefore time to pay more attention to this skill that connects us to each other.

Creative:

During and after missions, the resilience of military personnel is greatly called upon. During missions, soldiers carry with them a personalized weapon, the Glock. Like the Glock, resilience is also person-specific. Where the Glock can rescue soldiers from a situation, so can resilience.

It was therefore chosen, to incorporate the 9 millimeter shell from this weapon into resilience pin, as a symbol of resilience. This shell symbolizes a memory of a situation that has affected a person physically or mentally. For example, an accident or illness.

Such a drastic event, in any situation, leaves a memory behind and it is through resilience that one can get back as close as possible to the original self. This resilience was therefore taken as the starting point for the design of the resilience pin and translated through into the compression of a 9 millimeter shell. Resulting in a pin with organic look and feel and touching different symbolics supporting resilient behaviour.
